Cawthorn Should Name DC Elite Involved in Drugs, Orgies: Fox News Host

  • Fox News host Trey Gowdy asked Madison Cawthorn to back up his controversial claims about some of DC’s elite.
  • Gowdy asked Cawthorn to reveal who was involved in the drug-taking and orgies or admit that his stories were made up.
  • “My question for the congressman is simply this: Who? Give us the names,” Gowdy said.

Fox News host and former GOP politician Trey Gowdy has asked Rep. Madison Cawthorn to reveal who in DC’s elite did drugs in front of him and invited him to sex parties — or admit that he was lying.

“My question for the congressman is simply this: Who? Give us the names,” said Gowdy on the most recent episode of his show “Sunday Night in America.”

“If you’re being invited to cocaine parties by colleagues, tell us who invited you? Who used illicit drugs in front of you? Who broke the very laws they passed and expect to us follow?” he asked.

Gowdy added: “Which of your colleagues believes he or she is above the law? Who is doubling as a deviant by night while talking about family values by day?”

The former congressman for South Carolina went on to say that the people he had met in Washington during his eight years there were “nothing like what this congressman described.”

“Tim Scott’s idea of a wild time was ordering dessert … Kevin McCarthy did take to us see movies, and one time, he did order butter popcorn if that counts. Joe Kennedy’s nickname was ‘Milk,’ because it was the strongest thing he drank,” said Gowdy, referring to other lawmakers.

He noted that Cawthorn must have been “hanging around with the wrong people” in Washington if he had witnessed drug use and been invited to “NC -17 parties.”

Gowdy then asked Cawthorn to name the people involved in the alleged illicit activities.

“Either tell us who you saw doing cocaine and who invited you to sexually explicit parties, or admit what we suspect, which is that you made it up,” the Fox News host added. “And then ask yourself where fairness and honesty fall on the list of qualities we should be looking for in members of Congres.”

Other conservative figures have rebuked Cawthorn for his comments in March when he claimed that members of Washington’s elite had invited him to orgies and did cocaine in front of him. In response, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy also reprimanded Cawthorn, saying the North Carolina congressman had lost his trust.

Meanwhile, GOP figures like Thom Tillis, a senator from Cawthorn’s home state, are backing one of his primary challengers Chuck Edwards. In a statement, Tillis wrote that Edwards would “never embarrass Western North Carolina with a consistent pattern of juvenile behavior, outlandish statements, and untruthfulness.”

For his part, Cawthorn has blamed the left and the media for trying to “disparage” his Republican colleagues.
